Leonardo DiCaprio had to wait an eternity to finally be awarded an Oscar. He finally got it for The Revenant. However, he had to endure incredible hardships to achieve this. You can see how good the film turned out on TV today.
Today on TV: That’s what The Revenant is about
Leonardo DiCaprio’s first Oscar-winning role is based on a true story. The Revenant tells the story of the trapper Hugh Glass. He was attacked by a bear during an expedition in 1823. His companions then leave him behind. They believe Hugh Glass will succumb to his injuries anyway.
But they are wrong. The trapper played by DiCaprio no longer even has his equipment, but still manages to brave the adverse conditions. He seriously injured, fights his way through the forests of North America: 350 miles lie between him and his rescue.
Hugh Glass gets it along the way not just to do with the wilderness, but also with their human inhabitants. On the one hand, there are his former colleagues: the mercenary John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy), Captain Andrew Henry (Domhnall Gleeson) and the young Jim Bridger (Will Poulter). On the other hand, the local Native Americans sometimes pose a threat.
20th Century Fox
The Revenant features a mature performance from Leonardo DiCaprio and plenty of beautiful visuals.
Leonardo DiCaprio gives everything for The Revenant and is rewarded with the Oscar
Filming The Revenant was a special risk and extremely strenuous. Director Alejandro González Iñárritu is said to have insisted only with natural light in the forests of North America to rotate. That’s why filming ended up taking so long that the snow melted and the location had to be changed.
Leonardo DiCaprio looks back on filming as one of the hardest performances he has ever had to deliver. Not only did he learn how to use a musket and heal himself using ancient methods, but he also learned two ancient native languages. But that wasn’t everything, not by a long shot.
On the set of The Revenant, the vegetarian Leonardo DiCaprio apparently has a real, raw bison liver eaten. He also had to climb into frozen rivers and was always on the verge of hypothermia. But what shoots us crazy is that Leonardo DiCaprio probably even slept in animal carcasses.
