What an incredible debut it was for Leo Carlsson last night!
First game in the NHL and then he struck straight away with the first goal.
Now father Kenneth Carlsson opens up about the great pride for his son.
Young Leo Carlson has had a lot of eyes on him ever since the summer draft picks in the NHL. Then the Swedish 18-year-old was chosen as number two overall after the super talent Connor Bedard.
Carlsson’s debut
Then it became increasingly clear during the summer’s preseason that Carlsson would get the chance in the NHL right away this season. However, due to injury concerns, the big NHL debut has been delayed.

Only last night, the Swedish teenager got to step out on the ice to the great cheers of the Anaheim Ducks supporters. There were also mother and father Carlsson in the stands to witness the very first match.
First NHL goal
Leo Carlsson would not disappoint anyone in his debut match either. Because at the beginning of the third period, he struck with the very first NHL goal of his career, a real successful debut for the blue-yellow great talent who is predicted to have a brilliant future on the ice.
At 18 years and 297 days, Carlsson also became the second youngest player in club history to score on debut, see the video below. Now the father opens Kenneth Carlsson about the strong emotions and great pride after seeing his son fulfill a childhood dream.
– We were very happy, it was an incredible atmosphere and joy. It’s really impossible to explain the feeling, it was a wow feeling, he tells Radiosporten.

The whole family has been fighting for this very moment for so long and so the emotions overflowed last night, see the goal below.
– It was absolutely fantastic! It is something that you have dreamed about together for many, many years. We have been to many ice rinks to work on this result, if you say so, haha, says Kenneth in the interview.

Just making his debut in the NHL was a huge thing, but the fact that the son also manages to score makes it all that much bigger.
– It’s surreal, in a way. Incredible! It’s something you dream about and sometimes dreams come true, it did today, admits father Carlsson.
