LenovoThe Windows handheld enters the playing field with its rival, the Legion Go. This game console comes with an 8.8 inch LCD display with QHD+ (1,600 x 2,560 pixels) resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The touchscreen panel offers a 16:10 aspect ratio and a brightness of up to 500 nits. It supports resolutions ranging from 1600p to 800p and can lower the refresh rate to 60Hz for better power management. (Many brands refer to this feature as dynamic refresh rate.

Lenovo, Nintendo SwitchIt took some inspiration from (or copy) the Legion Go and equipped the Legion Go with removable controllers called Legion TrueStrike and a kickstand. The controls feature Hall-effect joysticks and a multitude of buttons, including a touchpad, 10 reassignable shoulder triggers, and a scroll wheel.

Lenovo even went a step further and added a controller base module that attaches to the right controller via magnets, supporting the controller and allowing you to use it as a mouse. At the bottom of the right controller is an optical sensor, just like a real mouse.

Lenovo preferred AMD’s Ryzen Z1 series chipsets, and you can configure up to the Z1 Extreme. The GPU side is covered by RDNA 3 graphics. Legion Go, up to 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD (M.2 2242 size) and you also get a microSD card slot that supports up to 2TB of extra storage. All models run at 7,500 MHz 16GB LPDDR5x RAM it comes with.

Cooling is handled by a custom thermal cooling system consisting of a liquid polymer bladed fan that maxes out at 25dB when running 25W total graphics power (TGP) in Custom Mode. In terms of I/O, you have two USB-Type C ports (USB 4.0, DisplayPort 1.4, Power Delivery 3.0), a microSD slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. Legion Go also features Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.

On the software side Legion Space There is Windows 11 Home with a special layer called Windows 11 Home. That’s where all games and launchers live, and Lenovo also includes three months of free with every Legion Go handheld. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offers subscription.

Legion Go is equipped with a dual-cell 49.2Wh battery that supports fast charging, promising 0-70% charge in 30 minutes. Legion Go also supports power bypass mode, helping to conserve battery when playing games while plugged in. Lenovo ships it with a 65W PD charger.

The Lenovo Legion Go will start at $699 / €799 for the base model and will be available from November.
