Leksand bounced back after the starburst

– It was very important to get that start, says Oskar Lang to TV4 Play.

The loss in Växjö with 8-1 was the biggest ever for Leksand against Växjö. Now they got hold of it immediately and with hindsight the match was already decided after half of the first period.

– It was a great victory and we needed it, says Lucas Elvenes.

Max Veronneau made his way through two LHC players and despite the puck bouncing he finished distinctly in front of the goal for 1-0. In doing so, the Canadian extended his point streak to eight games, the longest in the SHL.

Lang’s first goal since November

Leksand took advantage of a gross carelessness in front of their own goal by LHC and Marek Hrivik was free to score 2-0.

At 3-0, Oskar Lang headed in a pass from Olle Alsing, then the match clock read 10.25 and the three goals had come at 5.15.

– It was a nice feeling to feel that I can score again. It’s settled a bit (in the head) but it’s just a matter of working on, says Lang after the first goal since November 28 when they won in Oskarshamn with 8-4.

Elvenes was heckled after a knee tackle

He also made it 4-1 at the end when Linköping’s Anthony Greco received five minutes and a match penalty for a knee tackle by Lucas Elevenes, something that was video reviewed.

– It’s a clear knee tackle that hit “right” and I got up to play on, but apparently you have to lie down and grin to show that you’re in pain, says Lucas Elvenes, who was heckled by an LHC supporter during the interview.

Linköping last lost 7-1 against Skellefteå and it was another heavy loss in front of 8,001 spectators.

– We never caught them and they had to come at high speed. I think they were hotter in front of our goal than we were in front of theirs, says Linköping’s Arvid Aronsson.
