The girl entered the hospital with life-threatening injuries after ingesting vinegar, on Christmas Eve 2022. It was revealed that the six-year-old girl had lived for years in isolation and torture.
Now the parents have been sentenced to eight years in prison in the district court. Leif GW Persson had previously predicted seven years, but he would not have been surprised if it was more.
– There had been no obstacle to sentencing them to more than ten years in prison. No formal obstacles, he says in Nyhetsmorgon, and continues:
– In all essentials, it can be considered a prosecutorial success.
When the verdict was handed down, the mother’s lawyer announced that she wanted to appeal, and the father is also believed to be on the same track. Leif GW Persson is absolutely certain that the ethics case has not yet reached its end.
– I am one hundred percent sure that it will be appealed.
“The edge of everything normal”
Today, all six children are cared for. And GW does not believe that the children will ever be allowed to return to their mother and father, despite the fact that the other five children have not been the victims of any crime.
No motive for the crime has been discovered, but GW has a theory.
– In short, they disliked her. The others have had to live a… I don’t want to say a normal life, because this is a family that is very marginalized. They really live on the edge of everything that we consider ordinary and normal.
“They are not very appreciated”
Now prison awaits both parents and GW suspects that the mother will have a particularly hard time.
– She probably runs certain risks. For people who end up in prison for that reason… they are not very well regarded.
Is it difficult to protect individual prisoners?
– Based on your circumstances, you succeed in it and you make an effort to do it. We have a prison system where special institutions and special wards have been built for particularly sensitive categories of inmates.
– They will probably do their best. But the fellow prisoners will not like them.
