Legislative elections: the right facing the onslaught of the RN in Pas-de-Calais

Legislative elections the right facing the onslaught of the RN

The 7th district of Pas-de-Calais, in the very north of the country, is a territory of 128,000 inhabitants which includes the city of Calais – facing the Channel and England, a symbol of the migratory issue – but also more rural areas. A deindustrialized land with a high rate of unemployment and poverty, especially among young people.

In the 2017 legislative elections, the right had won against the far right. But this time, the outgoing LR deputy drags the ball of the catastrophic score of Valérie Pécresse in the presidential election while Marine Le Pen, she broke records in the sector.
