In the Nord department, where the National Rally came first in the European elections, the town of Roubaix resisted the progress of the RN by voting massively for France Insoumise. More than 42% of the votes for LFI, far ahead of the National Rally. Strengthened by this election, the left-wing forces remain united and are organizing to reiterate this clear victory against the far right.
In Roubaix, relations between the main left-wing parties are good, because a cordial dialogue has always been maintained there. Despite some disagreements, rebels, socialists, communists and ecologists work for block the National Rally in the legislative elections.
“ The far right is still a program which is far from being social and which will disadvantage the poor, above all. They are not for increasing the minimum wage, they did not vote for the right to abortion in the Constitution. So that says a lot about the program that could happen. We will start from the program and say “this is what awaits you if you vote RN”,” explains Isabelle Vanspeybroeck, trade unionist and Communist Party activist.
And to explain the RN program to voters, the New Popular Front can count on the many French people who have joined left-wing groups since the dissolution
“ In fact, over the past few days, we have had a lot of people come to join us. There are all ages, all backgrounds, all social classes. These are the people who do not want the RN to come to power and who also want to overthrow Renaissance, Emmanuel Macronthis is the opportunity », Specifies Laurent Pignier, activist for France Insoumise.
The RN, minority in Roubaix
And Kamel, a supporter of the Socialist Party, intends to seize this opportunity. “ We must all oblige ourselves to vote. Today, the ideology of the National Rally scares me, because today, it is based on false ideas that can sow confusion. Me, today, I am going to vote and I am going to contribute to the failure of the National Rally. »
The National Rally is in the minority in Roubaix, but it obtained the votes of these two former Macronists in the last European elections.
“ Personally, I am a housekeeper, on disability, at that. I don’t get much. I’m on minimum wage, the 10th of the month, we can’t take it anymore. With gas, electricity, everything that has increased, it’s no longer possible », specifies the first woman. “ I think the State is trying to find out where we are, because it’s really pushing us to the limit, deplores the second. We, the people who work, have to pay the maximum and those at the top who have money, they pay nothing. So, if this continues, there will be a revolution in France. »
Reducing inflation and increasing wages, these are some actions that could convince these Roubaisiennes not to vote RN again in the next legislative elections.
