Legislative 2022 in France: what recomposition of the political landscape?

Legislative 2022 in France what recomposition of the political landscape

As soon as the presidential election is over, a new political battle is opening up in France: that for the legislative elections on June 12 and 19. Outgoing President Emmanuel Macron was re-elected last night for a second 5-year term, with 58.5% of the vote, 2 million less than in 2017. His far-right opponent Marine Le Pen has, as for she was beaten but with an unequaled score of 41.5% of the vote.

On the strength of this breakthrough, the candidate of the National Rally, as of last night, called to embark on “the great battle of the legislative elections”. Same thing on the left, in the camp of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of La France Insoumise, who came third in the first round of the presidential election. For him, the big maneuvers for possible alliances have begun. So, what will the French political landscape look like? Will the presidential camp retain its majority in the hemicycle? Who from the extreme right or from the left will manage to establish themselves as the main opposition force? Finally, on the right, will the Republicans survive?
