Legion has donated over 25000

The Wallaceburg branch of the Royal Canadian Legion was able this year to donate over $25,000 to community groups and veterans in the area, the money being raised from 50/50 draws and donations.

Mike Hindmarsh, president of Br. 18, expressed appreciation this week to those who supported the local branch over the past year, especially during the early months when COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were still in place.

On a different note, the Legion also expressed appreciation for support it received for the Nov. 11 Remembrance Day service at Wallaceburg District Secondary School and at the town’s cenotaph.

“We would like to extend our appreciation to the dignitaries, First Nations and piper Henry Tomaszewski for attending,” the Legion said in a statement.

“The turnout for the service at the Cenotaph this year will forever be remembered in our hearts and that of the families for whom some may be gone but certainly not forgotten.”
