Legendary Hollywood cinema is being renovated by Netflix

The theater was inaugurated over 100 years ago, in 1922, and showed “Robin Hood” with Charlie Chaplin in attendance as a VIP guest.

The cinema came to set the standard for how film premieres in the coming centuries would be conducted. But in 1994 it was damaged in an earthquake and the association that ran it has not been able to afford to repair it.

But now Netflix has taken on the renovation task which, according to AFP, may have cost around 70 million dollars.
