Legendary fantasy horror trash with 5 sequels but each one

The Critters are like the nasty siblings of the Gremlins. In 1986, two years after Joe Dante’s cult film, they were little monsters unleashed for the first time in the film by Stephen Herek. The film, which airs on Tele5 on Sunday evenings, became a minor hit that launched an entire franchise. For many Critters fans, however, it could have stayed at just one part.

That’s what Critters is about

During a prisoner transport, a group of Critters who were imprisoned on an asteroid manage to escape. The Critters are Alien monsters that end up hijacking a spaceship and land on earth. To stop the voracious attackers, the Brown family must join the fight alongside two intergalactic bounty hunters.

The Critters franchise has disappointed more and more with each installment

The first part of the series still has a solid average of 6.4 in the Moviepilot community. The total of five sequels, which include four films and one series, are possible from film to film almost all downhill:

The series Critters: A New Binge was seen by too few members of the Moviepilot community to provide an average rating. In the review from Bloody Disgusting it only gets 1.5 out of 5 points with a very negative conclusion:

Cheap, unfunny and more Troma (without the blood) than Critters. A New Binge hardly captures the spirit of the films. I’ve seen better fan films than this (in fact, there’s a Critters fan film called Critters: Bounty Hunter that’s pretty notable), and that’s just not something you ever want to say about the official return of a franchise , that you love. When is Critters on TV?

Tele5 is broadcasting the first part of the horror comedy series September 24th at 8:15 p.m out of. Critters is currently not streaming at a flat rate on any streaming service.
