End clap for the legendary Tom Brady who is officially retiring.
No Super Bowl 2023 and a retirement. On Wednesday, February 1, NFL legend Tom Brady announced his retirement on social media. The most successful quarterback in NFL history had already announced his retirement on February 1, 2022 before making a surprise return to the franchise six weeks later, but this time he is leaving “for good”.
“I come straight to the point. I’m retiring, for good. I know the process got the talk last time, so when I woke up this morning I thought I’d just press the check-in button to let you know,” he said.
After three years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise, Tom Brady was going to start the new season without a contract because the team didn’t really want him anymore. Still, the quarterback was far from over as he enjoyed an excellent campaign with the “Bucs” (8-9) in 2022. He completed 490 passes, a new NFL record, for 4,694 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions. But the early elimination in the playoffs against the Dallas Cowboys unfortunately prompted this decision.
An incredible track record
Winner of seven Super Bowls, an absolute record, he won six with the New England Patriots (2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016 and 2018) and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, in ten Super Bowls played. Tom Brady is also 5 Super Bowl MVP (best player) trophies.
