23 years ago, Kenny Bräck won the Indy 500.
On Sunday, it was Marcus Ericsson’s turn – which is now hailed by the legend.
– It is fantastic fun, says Bräck.
Kenny Bräck is one of Sweden’s largest engine profiles. He competed in several different series, and the Swede’s enormous success on the motorway is nothing to talk about.
Great success
Bräck’s greatest merit is undoubtedly when he became the first driver from Europe in 82 years to win the Indycar series. The following season was another victory, and this time in the Indy 500.
Since Kenny Bräck won it in 1999, no other Swede has succeeded with the feat. Until last weekend. Then Marcus Ericsson drove the fastest and took home the competition, and can now, together with Kenny Bräck, call himself the Indy 500 winner.
And of course, the Swedish legend got to see Ericsson’s achievement in place. Of course, he was extremely happy with the engine success.
Bräcks tribute
– Fantastic fun. So well driven by Marcus (Ericsson), says Bräck to SVT Sport.
And it became a race with great drama. He looked to be heading for a sure victory, but after a late restart, the Swede Pato O´Ward was challenged and it became a real thriller.
– Everything can happen in a restart, but Marcus did very well. No mistakes but impressive from start to finish, says Kenny Bräck.
