Lee survived the catastrophic plane crash in South Korea

179 people died in South Korea’s worst civilian aviation disaster ever.
Only two survived.
Lee, 33, was one of them.
– I had already been rescued when I woke up, he told the doctors at the hospital, reports Yonhap News.

The Beoing 737-800 plane for some reason had trouble landing at Muan Airport in southwestern South Korea after leaving Bangkok. There were 181 people on board.

The first landing attempt failed and then the plane made a so-called belly landing, when the landing wheels did not fold out. It then drove at high speed straight into a partition wall at the airport, split in two and caught fire.

179 people have been confirmed dead. At the back of the plane, which remained almost intact, were two crew members who were rescued alive from the wreckage.

Multiple fractures

One of them is named Lee, whose last name is not known, who is 33 years old and was a flight attendant on the Jeju Air plane. He was first taken to a hospital in a nearby city, but his injuries were deemed too severe and was later taken to a hospital in the capital, Seoul.

According to the doctors, he suffers from a number of fractures but can nevertheless communicate.

– When I woke up, I had already been saved, he told the doctors at the hospital, the hospital manager said at a press conference.

“No memory loss”

The manager did not ask for more details about the accident as he feared it would worsen Lee’s condition.

– He can communicate fully. There are no indications of memory loss or the like, said hospital director Ju Woong, according to Yonhap News.

Lee is now being cared for in the intensive care unit and is under constant monitoring as he is at risk of full paralysis due to all the fractures.
