The world of South Korean cinema is in mourning after the death of the man who very quickly became a great star of the seventh art. Known abroad for his role in the film ParasiteLee Sun-kyun began his career in 2001 in TV series.

In October 2023, he was accused by a bar hostess of having used drugs during a party. In South Korea, the consumption and possession of psychotropic drugs is severely punished. Considered a crime, taking drugs is punishable by at least one year in prison.

Questioned three times by the authorities, Lee Sun-kyun always proclaimed his innocence. Testing negative for drug use, he was questioned one last time at the police station for 19 consecutive hours, including overnight.

He was found dead this Wednesday, December 27, the day after this summons. If the police do not make a link between the two events, the methods of the South Korean police have already been denounced for their severity and the impact they can have on the defendants.
