Lebanon: Israel destroyed nearly 40 villages | News in brief

Lebanon’s state news agency reports that Israel has destroyed around 40,000 homes near the border between the two countries.

Israel’s powerful strikes have completely destroyed 37 municipalities in the southern part of Lebanon, the Lebanese state news agency NNA says. NNA is quoted by the news channel Al-Jazeera and an Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

According to NNA, the Israeli attacks have destroyed around 40,000 homes.

– The Israeli armed forces have mined and destroyed entire residential areas in cities and villages as part of their destructive campaign against Lebanon, NNA says.

The NNA says that the destruction is concentrated in the surroundings of the city of Naqoura and the municipality of Khiam, about three kilometers from the Israeli border.

Israel says it will strike targets of the Lebanese extremist organization Hezbollah. However, bases of UN peacekeepers in the region have come under fire several times.

Hezbollah began to carry out attacks on Israel after the extremist organization Hamas had attacked Israel from Gaza and Israel had begun devastating bombings in Gaza. Israeli attacks have killed more than 3,000 people in Lebanon over the course of a year.
