Leapmotor International ships first batch of electric vehicles from China to Europe

Stellantis officially announced today. Leapmotor International has shipped its first batch of electric vehicles from China to Europe.

Leapmotor International made the following statement regarding the development: Established between Leapmotor, one of China’s largest electric mobility manufacturers, and Stellantis, one of the world’s largest mobility companies, Leapmotor International, led by Stellantis by 51/49 percent, is starting to bring its ambitious models to European roads. In this context, the company shipped the first Leapmotor electric models, the C10 SUV and T03 automobile, from Shanghai, China, to European ports this month. This first shipment is an important milestone for the partnership, while also demonstrating the partnership’s joint commitment to rapidly provide sustainable mobility and innovative solutions to the European electric vehicle market. Leapmotor’s C10 and T03 models are equipped with advanced electric vehicle technologies such as superior performance, efficiency, and range. Leapmotor became China’s fourth largest new energy vehicle (NEV) enterprise in June 2024. Commenting on the subject, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said, “The shipment of the Leapmotor C10 and T03 models to Europe this month is a milestone in the partnership between Stellantis and Leapmotor.”

Carlos Tavares emphasized that this is a concrete step in their commitment to offer innovative, affordable and sustainable mobility solutions for customers, and said: “Considering Stellantis’ strong commercial presence in Europe and the intense efforts of our teams to ensure product innovation and quality, I am confident that Leapmotor electric vehicles will be accepted by European customers. We are excited about the opportunities this partnership brings and look forward to embarking on a successful journey together.”

Noting that Leapmotor has sold over 400,000 electric vehicles in China since its first sale until the first half of July, Leapmotor Founder, Chairman and CEO Zhu Jiangming said: “China is the world’s largest and most competitive electric vehicle market, and our products have proven their qualities by winning the appreciation of local customers. The C10 and T03 models were designed from the very beginning to meet the high quality standards of global customers. We are also confident that the collaboration between Stellantis and Leapmotor will bring significant growth to both companies.”

Leveraging Stellantis distribution channels, Leapmotor International JV plans to increase its sales points for Leapmotor models in Europe from 200 units by the end of 2024 to 500 units by 2026 to ensure a high level of service for customers.

As the C10 and T03 models set off on their journey to Europe, Stellantis and Leapmotor continue to push the boundaries of innovative solutions and sustainability in the automotive industry. This month’s shipment is just the beginning of a long-term collaboration that aims to transform the world of electric mobility in Europe and beyond. At least one new model is planned to be launched every year for the next three years.

Leapmotor C10 is Leapmotor’s first global product manufactured according to global design and safety standards. The C10 is based on Leapmotor’s self-developed LEAP 3.0 technology architecture. This architecture incorporates cell-to-chassis (CTC) technology as the central integrated electronic and electrical architecture, and industry-leading smart electrical technologies such as the smart cockpit feature.

This is a fully equipped, family-oriented D-segment car that offers the best premium driving and handling experience in its segment, provides a WLTP range of 420 kilometres and meets the 5-star E-NCAP rating standard. It has won important awards such as the “International CMF Design Award 2023” for its technological and aesthetic design, followed recently by the French Design Awards (FDA) 2024 Gold Award and the US MUSE Design Awards 2024 Gold Award.

The Leapmotor T03 is a small five-door A-segment urban vehicle with B-segment-level interior space. It stands out not only for its style, but also for its driving pleasure and 265-kilometer WLTP range. It ranked first in the battery electric small vehicle segment in the JD Power Initial Quality Study.
