Activision confirmed on May 23 that the upcoming Call of Duty in 2024 will continue the “Black Ops” series. According to rumors, this year’s offshoot of the shooter will be controversial. What rumors are there and what is really known?
What is officially known so far? The name. The upcoming CoD is called “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6”. Players tend to use the abbreviation BO.
We also know when there will be more information about the shooter:
The Verge also says that it will be announced at the CoD presentation on June 6 that Black Ops 6 will be included in the Game Pass. The release is again scheduled for the end of October 2024.

Saddam Hussein and 9/11 – Rumors about Black Ops 6
There are already some leaks about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. These concern the setting, Saddam Hussein and the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. We have summarized the leaks and rumors known so far here, but please note that this is not official or confirmed information. These are just leaks that could turn out to be wrong or only partially correct.
What rumors are there? The oldest rumor about Black Ops 6 is the setting: according to some leaks, the shooter will take place during the Gulf War (via Insider Gaming).
One of the key characters in the game is set to be Saddam Hussein, who was an Iraqi politician during the first and second Gulf Wars. The assumption that Saddam Hussein will play a role in Black Ops 6 is based on the YouTube thumbnail of the trailer, which will be released on May 28th. The thumbnail is already available on YouTube and has also been shared on x.com.
The thumbnail shows a man who some users believe is Hussein.
Here you can see the thumbnail on x.com:
The numbers in the thumbnail are actually coordinates in decimal degree format. If you enter these coordinates in Google Maps, you will arrive at the al-Faw Palace in Baghdad (Iraq), which Hussein had built in the 1990s.
However, leakers and rumor mongers disagree on what role Hussein will play in the game. The politician will apparently be an antagonist, but not the main antagonist of the game (via x.com)
In addition to Saddam Hussein, the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 will also be addressed in the game (via x.com). However, the leaker only posted an excerpt from the teaser image that was released by Activision when the game title was announced (via callofduty.com):
In the logo, some numbers can be seen above the head of the left wolf, including the numbers “0091 2001”.
How the leaker came to this conclusion based on September 11, 2001, is unclear, however.
Another leak on x.com also shows that the September 11 attacks and Saddam Hussein play a role in Black Ops 6. It says that the campaign will cover two real military operations: “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and “Operation Enduring Freedom.”
So Black Ops 3 could cover some real events and operations if the leaks actually turn out to be true.
