The London Stock Exchange’s FTSE 100 index and the Paris Stock Exchange’s CAC40 index had both risen 1.0 percent at the close.
The Frankfurt Stock Exchange’s DAX index was at the time of 18 at plus 1.3 percent.
In Asia, stock markets rose overall. Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 closed up plus 0.6 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 2.7 percent while Shanghai’s composite index rose 1.3 percent.
The Stockholm Stock Exchange was closed for the weekend during Monday’s national day celebrations.
