LCLS-II: World’s Most Powerful X-Ray Nearly Completed

The LCLS-II X-ray laser, in blue, on the left, is shown next to the existing LCLS in red, on the right. The LCLS uses the last third of Slac’s 3 km linear accelerator, a hollow copper structure that operates at room temperature and generates 120 x-ray pulses per second.
