Two 14-year-olds in care disappear at the same time.

A few days later, Mohamad is found murdered in a wooded area.

Now Layth is also suspected of being dead.

– The father is very questioning how his son, who was taken care of by the public and placed outside his own home, could have been affected by this, says the plaintiff’s assistant Cafer Demirok.

At the end of July, the two 14-year-olds Mohamed and Layth disappear from their respective homes in central Sweden.

At the time of his disappearance, Mohamed had been placed in a HVB home for several years, as he had exhibited disturbing behavior from an early age. But at home he showed that he wanted to change and both his schooling and behavior had improved according to documents.

“He thinks a lot about the future and says he can’t change what has been.”

14-year-old Layth was in turn placed in a family home since 2021. His parents have emigrated from Sweden. According to documents, the time at the family home must have had a good effect on him.

“He has developed positively, with increased self-confidence and better language.”

How the boys disappeared from both their locations, and why, is unclear but they departed at the same time sometime between July 24 and 25.

Then they went up in smoke at the same time as they were under the care of society.

The family raised the alarm

The family of 14-year-old Mohamed has said that they reported him as missing after the family had been unable to find him.

According to the HVB home, Mohamed might have gone out with some friends.

– They said that “you can call the police and report him missing, so we called the police and they said they would talk to the HVB home. But the police never called back, Mohamed’s mother has previously told Aftonbladet.

The family was helped to publish Mohamed as missing on the Missing People’s website.

But a few days later, on July 29, a passerby found a body in a wooded area in Nynäshamn.

It was 14-year-old Mohamed and, according to Aftonbladet’s information, he had been subjected to severe violence and had been stabbed.

Investigating connection

In connection with the fact that Mohamed was found dead, suspicions arose that Layth could also have been hurt.

An investigation into suspected kidnapping was started in parallel with the murder investigation and Layth was also posted as missing on Missing People.

Layth has not yet been found, but everything in the investigation indicates that he too is dead. Yesterday, the classification was changed from suspected kidnapping to murder.

– The police are still looking for him. There is information in the case that suggests he is no longer alive. Considering the time that has passed since he disappeared, we considered that there were reasons to reclassify the case as murder, says senior prosecutor Hanna Cardell.

What led up to the murder of the two boys is still under investigation. But according to TV4 there are clear indications that the crimes can be linked to Rawa Majid, also called the “Kurdish fox” and designated as the leader of the criminal network Foxtrot, and people acting on his behalf.

– Regarding connections to possible gang crime, I can only confirm that the police work unconditionally to investigate who or who are involved in this crime and whether those people may possibly have gang connections, says senior prosecutor Hanna Cardell.

A 15-year-old boy is in custody on suspicion of aiding and abetting kidnapping, but he is not believed to have acted alone and an intensive hunt for the other perpetrators is underway. The detained 15-year-old is from Nyköping and appears in the crime register.

At the beginning of the summer, he was sentenced for false alarm when he allegedly called SOS and raised the alarm about a man with a gun inside a gas station.

When the police arrived at the scene, they did not find a man.

The 15-year-old admitted and explained that he had not seen anyone with a gun and that it was all a “fun thing”. The punishment for the crime was a daily fine.

“A lot that hasn’t come to the surface”

Cafer Demirok is the plaintiff’s assistant for Layth’s father.

– The relative whom I represent is of course appalled that his son is likely to have been murdered.

– The father is very questioning how his son, who was taken care of by the public and placed outside his own home, could have been affected by this, says Cafer Demirok.

He also says that the father and son had been in regular contact.

– This is a very tragic story and there are many aspects that have not come to the surface, says Cafer Demirok.
