Finnish NBA star Lauri Markkanen barely left the starting five of the All Star match. Markkanen received more than 1.6 million public votes on the Western Conference side, which was finally enough for seventh place on the list of frontcourt players.
When the votes of supporters, players and the media were added together, Markkanen was left out of the starting five and was fifth on the list of frontcourt players. We were selected Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic mixed Zion Williamson.
Markkanen received great recognition from the players, as they voted Markkanen the fourth best frontcourt player in the Western Conference. Markkanen was fifth on the media’s list.
This wasn’t enough for the starting five, where two back players were selected in addition to the three frontcourt players. The weight of the fans in the All Star voting was 50 percent. The share of players and media was 25% each.
Markkanen can still make it to the All Star match from among the substitute players, as seven substitute players will be named for both conferences next week. NBA head coaches decide these players.
Markkanen has averaged 24.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season.
