Lauri Markkanen gave his team a three-point lead in overtime. A dramatic minute and a half ended with Utah’s bitter defeat in overtime.
Lauri Markkanen The Utah Jazz suffered their second straight loss in overtime, when the Houston Rockets won 127-126.
Markkanen, who bagged 22 points, took Utah to a three-point lead in overtime with his dunk, but after that the team was unable to make a single basket in the last minute and a half.
Rockets did dramatically offer a place to win after playing the top match Alperen Sengun missed twice from the free throw line in the final nine seconds. Sengun had previously scored 37 points in the match.
of Utah Jordan Clarkson was able to run to the free top spot, but his throw missed the front iron.
Markkanen went to comfort Clarkson right after the failed throw. Clarkson had been the characters of the match, as he had bagged 33 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
– Those guys have shown that they can throw in those kinds of throws time and time again. In the end it cost us this game not getting defensive rebounds and not taking care of the ball, Utah head coach Will Hardy said according to AP.
According to Hardy, it was a miracle that Utah was in the game until the end.
– They got 24 offensive rebounds and we, on the other hand, lost the ball 17 times. That’s a bad recipe for success. However, I am really satisfied with how we implemented the game plan at the end of the match, Hardy summed up.
Markkanen had 22 points and nine rebounds in almost 39 minutes of playing time. Also Collin Sexton (28 points / 3 rebounds) had an excellent shooting streak.
Utah has now bowed out of its six-game winning streak twice in a row. It remains ninth in the Western Conference.
