Lauri Marjamäki wants to continue at the helm of the Flies – the pilot opens concisely, which is where the importance of Mika Pyörälä, who has ended his career, is concentrated

Five weeks and three days, so long Lauri Marjamäki second marriage with the Oulu Flies. Two Finnish Championship gold medals were born from the previous union, and Oärun Kärpi has since had a special place in the heart of Marjamäki.

Although the latest express post does not follow satisfactorily, a possible extension is not ruled out, on the contrary.

– We feel that this season, which was only five weeks long, was positive in the sense that we clearly got the posture moving. The result is not satisfactory, but the boots were started from the semi-finals, Sports Director Harri Aho shapes.

Loss in the playoffs against Ilves and the season ended before the semi-finals. Oulu’s Kärpi had much higher goals before the start of the season, but for the second time in a row, only a bone was left.

Now the company needs change. Lauri Marjamäki, who received a quick command as the head coach of the Flies during the spring playoffs, is ready to take up the challenge if the steps with the club hit the right place.

– Preliminary discussions have been held with the Flies and then we will see what the end result will be, but yes I will be happy in Oulu and the Flies will be an important club for me and Finland’s top society, Marjamäki says.

It is important for Marjamäki that the Flies be under his control to play in the top positions, both in the domestic and European troughs. Nothing else is enough.

– Instead of eight and others, I don’t want to go to fight for them, Marjamäki points out.

During the past season, the Fly League season did not take off on what was hoped for and in February the head coach Lauri Mikkola received departure passports. At the same time, Marjamäki was released from the Jokers, and the agreement was completed. Although Marjamäki has already experienced a lot as a coach, he was faced with a completely new situation.

A change leader was needed in the fly, and that role was completely new to Marjamäki. There were a lot of challenges, too little time.

– We had a pretty broken outfit. There were a lot of players injured and a lot of players came in very recently. The biggest challenge was to get a united team, Marjamäki describes.

Sports CEO Harri Aho admits that the failed player acquisitions affected the outcome of the season.

– It must have failed in some player acquisitions that they have not filled the box that has been thought.

– The hardest measure is that how many players play it through the best part of their careers, we had players who didn’t reach it. A more specific reason will only be sought through a longer analysis, Aho explains.

Marjamäki had to get the Fly Defense game in order.

– My first priority was to defend with quality. Let’s do exactly as they say, and none of the intermediate models out there.

Marjamäki made the save, however. This was despite the fact that the club had just obtained reinforcements from KHL for the attack.

– David Sklenicka was a very big help to us. We wanted little scoring for power About Julius Junttila and About Rudolf Cervenybut unfortunately Cerveny only played two sets before he was injured, so he was not useful to us, Marjamäki says.

Marjamäki also highlights the spiritual side. When a lot is lost, players ’self-confidence is not at the level that a winning team should have.

At the same time, one iconic, the last representative of Oulu’s golden generation, Pelaajaura, ended in a bitter defeat in the stall. 40 years old Mika Pyörälä had time to play in Kärpi for 15 years and 749 matches.

Marjamäki once again managed to coach his credit player. Marjamäki says that the successor to the five Finnish championships played an important role when the team had to be united before the playoffs.

– She’s a great example in the locker room. When we knew that the games would end, we wanted to beat everyone for him, Marjamäki reveals.

However, the future of flies looks good. My own junior job is on a strong footing and in the playoffs that just ended, ten of the attackers were their own puppies, four of the packs. The goalkeeper also has his own breeder.

But according to sports executive Aho, there would be room for a few players to be released from KHL.

– The market changed overnight when the war started and European players were released into the market. We are now monitoring the situation and we are trying to get us the best pieces of it, Aho says.

There is still no official announcement for the next time, but there are hopes.

– We want to have a strong center section, players who can play this modern two-way hockey very successfully, Aho says.

However, one thing is certain: the current level of earnings is not enough for Oulu’s pride. According to Marjamäki, there is a strong desire to make a big change inside the club at the moment, and he is happy to be involved in this change.

The coming weeks and months will show whether there is a common will and direction. The posture movement is at least certainly known if Marjamäki’s head coach’s reference is offered.
