In her new novel, Laure Gouraige confronts her heroine with the question of identity, origin and heritage, with the stigmatization of being reduced to a “black” person and all that that implies.
The texts on the back covers of books published by POL editions are always short and intriguing. That of Laure Gouraige’s novel fits in one line. It is quite simply the incipit and at the same time the 1er chapter of the book. A very tempting sentence: “You wake up one morning, you are black”.
The word “Black” is written in the feminine, and when you open the book, we discover over the pages all the way that this sentence will take the main character, who is also the narrator.
