In her new novel, Laure Gouraige confronts her heroine with the question of identity, origin and heritage, with the stigma of being reduced to a “black” person, and all that that implies.
The texts on the back covers of books published by POL editions are always short and intriguing. That of Laure Gouraige’s novel is in one line. It is quite simply the incipit and, at the same time, the 1st chapter of the book. A catchy phrase: ” You wake up one morning, you’re black “.
The word “Black” is written in the feminine, and when you open the book, you discover over the pages all the way that this sentence will take the main character, who is also the narrator.
“Black Ideas”, by Laure Gouraige, was published by POL
