Laura Lahtinen reached seventh place in the women’s 100m butterfly final at the short course European Championships in Romania. Lahtinen clocked a time of 57.48 and was six tenths away from his own Finnish record of 56.88.
– Lahtinen started bravely and went to get the Finnish record. Courageous swimming will pay off at some point, Urheilu’s expert Ville Kallinen evaluate.
Swedish Louise Hanson won the European Championship with a time of 55.37.
– I don’t know if I’m terribly satisfied. It’s an okay time, but maybe not what I went for. The medal pace was still too fast for me, Lahtinen commented to Urheilu.
The 20-year-old Lahtinen already finished fourth in the 200-meter butterfly at the Games.
Lahtinen will compete later this evening in the 50-meter butterfly semi-finals and will still participate in the relay final that concludes the night of the competition. The Finnish mixed team competes in the final of the 4×50 meter freestyle relay. They swim in a team Niko Mäkelä, Ari-Pekka LiukkonenLahtinen and Fanny Teijonsalo.
