Laura Lahtinen with a top time is fourth in EC

Laura Lahtinen reached fourth place in the final of the 200-meter butterfly at the European short course championships in Romania.

Laura Lahtinen the pace was enough for fourth place in the women’s 200m butterfly final at the European Short Course Championships in Romania. The 20-year-old Lahtinen swam a time of 2:05.26 and was 13 hundredths away from his Finnish record.

German Angelina Kohler won the European championship with a time of 2:03.30. of Denmark Helena Rosendahl Bach took silver (2:03.86) and Bosnia-Herzegovina Lana Pudar took bronze (2:04.55). Lahtinen missed the EC bronze by 0.71 seconds.

– My tactic was to start swimming in the same way as in the preliminary and semi-finals. I succeeded in my tactics and thought I was fighting for third place, Lahtinen said.

Even though it was a great time, Lahtinen was a little disappointed with his performance.

– It felt like I didn’t give my all in the pool. My start was maybe not quite the same as in the preliminary and semi-finals. I wasn’t fully present in my swimming the whole time. The time was really good, only a tenth of SE, Lahtinen summed up for Urheilu.

Brännkärr with his record to the EC final

Fanny Teijonsalo finished ninth in the women’s 100m individual medley final. Teijonsalo, who swam for the first time in the final of the prestigious competition, had a time of 1:00.21. French Charlotte Bonnet celebrated European Championship gold with a time of 57.47.

Ronny Brännkärr made it to the 200m individual medley final. Brännkärr was sixth fastest in the semifinals with his record of 1:55.22. Briton Duncan Scott was first in the semi-finals with a time of 1:51.90. The EC final will be swimming on Friday evening.

– I felt bad. Swimming was not as easy as in the morning. There was more effort, which ate up the strength at the end. But the record and we’ll see if I can improve on Friday, Brännkärr said.

At the end of Thursday evening, Finnish women will compete in the final of the 4×50 meter medley relay.
