She says she discovered her illness a few days before the preview of Short.2in which she embodies the character of Billie, a few months after being operated on with a nodule in December.

Thyroid cancer is a disease that reaches the cells present in the area at the neck, and more specifically the thyroid nodule. Among the impacts of this cancer, there is the difficulty in breathing, swallowing or voice problems. If it is a serious disease that must be monitored and supported, this remains a type of cancer that is treated well if the patient follows the appropriate treatment, with high chances of survival. According to France’s public health data dating from 2018, there were 386 deaths of thyroid cancer that same year, for 10,665 new estimated cases.

“Raising your foot”

As she explains during the interview, Laura Felpin must now have the thyroid removed, which implies drug treatment for life. But the 35 -year -old actress wants to be reassuring, explaining that it is a disease “very well taken care of by medicine”. On the other hand, she will have to review her career plans on the medium term: “I face a form of exhaustion. I have to pay attention to myself. It depresses a lot of being tired,” she adds.

She will therefore have to lift her foot, after having lived at a frantic pace for two years. After winning the Molière with the best humor show in 2023, Laura Felpin shot in five films, two series, while ensuring a 24 -month tour throughout France. “I only took three weeks of vacation this summer to go to Japan. It saved me a little. There, I think I can finally say that I will get off.”

The actress therefore makes her illness public, rare for a media personality. “Everyone wants to preserve the secret around health, but I think it’s important to talk about it publicly,” she said in the interview with GQ. “For me, it’s part of life. I can tell people that it’s difficult for me.” After sharing her “admiration” for hospital staff, Laura Felpin considers that “life is also disease, burn-out or depression”. “We always say that winter exists to remind us that summer is there. We thus oscillate between very intense moments which make us understand that everything around us is very fragile”.
