The perfume worn by Lady Diana during her marriage to Prince Charles is still available for sale. Discover it.
On July 29, 1981, Diana Spencer appeared absolutely sublime at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London in an iconic taffeta dress with a tiara belonging to her family, alongside the man who would become the father of her two children a few years later. But there is one detail that we don’t necessarily know: the perfume she wore on D-Day.
Lady Diana’s bridal perfume
For her royal wedding, Lady Diana had seen things on a grand scale. And it was not the scent that the guests smelled as she walked down the wedding aisle that she was going to leave to chance! On the contrary, she chose the best of perfumes by wearing Some Flowers from Houbigant. According to Brides magazine, the Princess of Hearts spilled this multi-floral juice on her wedding dress just before putting it on. Legend has it that she tried to cover up the stain while she was on the red carpet. And 43 years later, you can still get this irresistible blend of ethereal, ambrosial and voluptuous flowers on the brand’s website.
An exceptional juice that reinvents perfume
Created in 1912 by French perfumer Robert Bienaimé for Maison Houbigant, Quelques Fleurs was a true innovation at the time of its release. The reason? It brings together more than 15,000 flowers and 250 prestigious raw materials whereas the perfumes of the time included only singular flowers, or flowers combined with various nuances of herbs and spices.
Its formula, long kept secret, is said to be composed of bergamot, tarragon, lemon, jasmine absolute, violet absolute, rose absolute, broom absolute, beeswax absolute, tuberose, ylang-ylang, heliotrope, orange blossom and carnation. All topped with a delicate touch of sandalwood, civet, cedar, musk, orris root and tonka beans.
