Ladies and gentlemen, it’s just after 9:00 a.m. What are the servers doing? Well, they’re live on Steam. Queues are already forming on Aries and Draco. Kronos, Nysa and Aaru came online a little later.

As in Throne and Liberty, New World can also have community events involving a large number of characters. This is what a video on Reddit from March 2022 shows:

A note to all PC players: The Aeternum update is only available for free if you own the base game and the “Rise of the Angry Earth” expansion! All console players have to buy the Aeternum package with both contents anyway.

Important: If you want to play on a platform-specific world for PlayStation or Xbox, you must turn off the crossplay setting on your console.
Platform-specific worlds are not visible as long as crossplay is activated. You can turn off the function in the “Social” tab in the settings under “Cross-Play”.

The gameplay trailer for the launch of New World Aeternum:
What do I need to know about New World Aeternum? To receive the overhaul and associated content, you need the New World base game and the first expansion, Rise of the Angry Earth. Players who already own both on Steam will receive a free upgrade to the Aeternum version on October 15, 2024.
Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can easily purchase the new version in the shop. The same applies if you don’t yet own New World and/or the “Rise of the Angry Earth” expansion on the PC – then you can either buy the complete package or – if you have already purchased at least the base game – the expansion later secure.
New World: Aeternum supports crossplay and allows you to play together in the same world on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Steam (PC). In New World: Aeternum, characters are tied to the platform on which they were created. For example, if you create a character on PlayStation 5, you won’t be able to play it on Xbox Series X|S or Steam (PC). You can find all further information about the release, the map, new content, PC version and more in our overview of New World Aeternum.
