The Moscow administration has continued to hit Ukraine’s energy infrastructures with missile and UAV attacks since October. The Ukrainian army announced on Saturday that it had shot down 10 Russian UAVs in Odessa. However, five UAVs targeted power plants, leaving about 1.5 million people without electricity as a result.
“The situation in the Odessa region is quite difficult,” said President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. “Unfortunately, the attacks targeting the area were critical,” Zelenskiy said in a video message. It takes days to get electricity back.” he said.
UKRAINE RESPONSE
However, Ukraine responded to Russia’s targeting of Odessa during the night. The exiled Ukrainian mayor of the city of Melitopol, on the other hand, reported that a missile attack was carried out on the Russian-occupied Melitopol of Ukraine. While explosions were reported in Donetsk and Crimea, some images were also shared by the Russian authorities that there was a big fire in the city.
THERE ARE DEAD AND INJURED
The exiled mayor, Ivan Fedorov, noted that many “invaders” were killed. In Melitopol, pro-Moscow officials said two people were killed and 10 injured as a result of the missile attacks.
Yevgeny Balitskiy, the governor of the Zaporozhye region appointed by Moscow, said in a statement on his Telegram account, “Air defense systems stopped two missiles. However, four missiles reached their targets,” he said. Balitskiy added that in the attack carried out by Ukraine with Himars missiles, the “rest facility” was hit while people were eating.
