Latest photos released! Volcanic eruption in Tonga wiped the island off the map

A volcanic eruption occurred in the island country of Tonga last week. After the explosion, tsunami warnings were issued in many countries, and 3 people died in the tsunamis. The Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) photographed Hunga Ha’apai Island, where the explosion occurred, from space, revealing that most of the island had been wiped off the map.

After the underwater volcano eruption on January 15 in the island country of Tonga in the South Pacific, the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) published the last photos taken from space of the twin islands Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haapai, joined by the volcano where the eruption occurred. After the explosion, it turned out that most of the islands in question were flooded and wiped from the map. Roscosmos stated that the photograph was taken with the Canopus-V satellite, and drew attention to the change by marking the pre-explosion borders of the islands with a line.
