The rental giant is shockingly raising electricity prices – by 525 percent
Real estate company Wallenstam is raising its electricity prices by 525 percent, GP reports.
The company has approximately 12,000 apartments in Gothenburg, Stockholm and Uppsala.
In an email to the residents, the company now writes that the price will be increased from 40 öre per kilowatt hour to 250 öre excluding VAT after the New Year.

Data: The government may be forced to back down on cheaper petrol
The government may be forced to go back on the promise to sharply lower the reduction obligation, reports DN citing sources.
It is the EU’s new emission requirements that put the government in a dilemma – to keep the reduction obligation as it is now, or pay billions.
During the election campaign, the governing parties promised sharp reductions in the price of petrol and diesel.
But according to the newspaper, the government may now be about to break even that promise.
– The government has probably promised things that you didn’t really understand what they meant, says a source to DN.
– There has not been a debate fully rooted in reality about the reduction obligation, says another source.
Aftonbladet is looking for Minister of Economic Affairs Ebba Busch (KD) for a comment on the information.

Slovakia’s government has fallen
Slovakia’s coalition government has fallen. This after Prime Minister Eduard Heger lost a no-confidence vote in parliament, TT reports.
Of the parliament’s 150 members, 78 voted to depose Heger.
He leads the conservative party Vanligt folk, which is part of a three-party minority government.
The vote of no confidence was brought by the Liberal Party three months after the government lost its majority in parliament.
Social Democratic Party leader Peter Pellegrini sees it positively.
– It is the best possible Christmas present for the Slovak people, says Pellegrini.
The fall of the government means either that President Zuzana Caputová appoints a new prime minister or that the country moves towards new elections.
Billström does not expect quick results
Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M) does not expect quick results when it comes to an approval of the Swedish NATO application.
Now he is on his way to Turkey for a meeting with his Turkish colleague, writes DN.
– Every day that this process is unnecessarily delayed is a day lost. And that is very, very bad. We have a serious security situation in the world, he tells the newspaper.
Billström does not want to go into a date for a possible Turkish ratification. At the same time, it has been stated in the Turkish media that the deadline expires in July 2023, just over a week after the Turkish election.
A date they have to deal with is the NATO meeting in Vilnius on July 11-12, says Billström.
But it is clear that it would be remarkable if it took that long, says Billström to the newspaper.
Man in his 90s robbed
A man in his 90s has been robbed in Stockholm.
The police were alerted to the robbery just after 3pm today. According to the elderly man, a man allegedly followed him when he entered his gate. The man then allegedly robbed the elderly man of a wallet.
In connection with the robbery, the elderly man is said to have fallen over and hit his head. He then allegedly lay inside the gate for half an hour before a neighbor found him and raised the alarm.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance. No one has been arrested so far.
Covid-19 is increasing – 27 percent more hospitalized patients
Right now, around 1,700 people with corona are hospitalized in the country, reports say Sweden’s Radio Echo.
That’s an increase of 27 percent in one week.
Of those, around 29 people receive iva care.
The spread of infection is also increasing. Last week, the number of confirmed cases increased by 43 percent compared to the week before.
– If you look at how it has been in previous seasons, the spread of infection will probably continue for a few more weeks, says state epidemiologist Anders Lindblom, to the radio.
Bosnia-Herzegovina is granted candidate status
Bosnia-Herzegovina has been granted candidate status for EU membership, AFP reports.
It is the third country to apply for EU membership in the past six months. Ukraine and Moldova have already been granted candidate status.
The Stockholm Stock Exchange crashed
The Stockholm Stock Exchange fell on Thursday and closed with red numbers.
The broad OMXS index closed at minus three percent. The OMXS30, where the most traded companies are located, also fell by 2.8 percent.
Big losers included the medical technology company Getinge, whose share fell 7.2 percent. Kinnevik and H&M also lost heavily.
The leading European stock markets have also gone down.
Thursday’s trading was marked by Wednesday’s interest rate announcement from the Fed, which raised the key interest rate by 50 basis points.
During Thursday, both the European Central Bank and the Bank of England announced that they too will raise by 50 basis points.
Red Cross volunteer killed in Ukraine
A volunteer from the Red Cross has been killed in connection with an attack in the city of Kherson on Thursday.
“Our thoughts are with the staff, volunteers and family. Aid workers and volunteers are never, ever, a target,” writes the Red Cross in Ukraine on Twitter.
According to VG, the woman who was killed herself is from Ukraine and was part of a crisis team that helps civilians in connection with the attacks that hit urban infrastructure.
Chaos in the subway – stops along the green line
Right now there is a stop on the subway’s green line between Hagsätra and Svedmyra.
The cause is a power outage, SL writes on its website.
“Stop between Hagsätra and Svedmyra in both directions for the metro’s green line 19 due to power outages. Otherwise, delays and canceled departures may occur,” writes SL further.
At the moment, there is no forecast for when traffic is expected to be up and running again.
Replacement buses must be called in.
Police are sentenced – spread child porn
A police officer from Uppsala county is sentenced for serious child pornography offences, reports SVT News Uppsala.
The man, who is in his 40s, has possessed, distributed and produced child pornography.
The police discovered the man when they were going through a seizure from another case.
When they searched the house, the man was downloading suspected child pornography, while also being active in a chat about the same topic.
Manndn had a large amount of pictures and videos on his computer. He had also filmed his sex in front of a child pornography image.
Hans is now sentenced to prison for one year and nine months.
The district court has taken into account that the man loses his job and has also been subjected to harassment during the investigation, writes SVT.
Abuse at group accommodation – staff locked themselves in
The police have been alerted to a group home in Ovanåker.
According to the alarm, a 25-year-old man allegedly acted aggressively and assaulted two women in the staff. The women then allegedly locked themselves in and called the police.
When the police arrived at the scene, the situation had calmed down. Two reports of assault will be filed, but no one should have suffered serious injuries.
