  • Suspected burglar dead after fleeing from police

    During the night there is an alarm about a burglary in a business premises in Köping.

    The police are quickly on the scene and two men in their 40s flee the scene, one of them in a car.

    The person fleeing the scene by car drives off the road some distance from the crime scene and is seriously injured in the accident.

    He was taken to hospital by ambulance, but died from his injuries.

    The other man left the crime scene on foot and was arrested. He is now suspected of theft.

    At 11pm on Wednesday evening, the police received a call that a man lying on the ground was being beaten in Jönköping.

    When the police arrive, it turns out that a man has been robbed and severely beaten.

    His injuries are initially considered serious and he is taken to hospital by ambulance.

    Three people have been reported dead after the Kakhovka Dam was destroyed on Tuesday, The Guardian reports.

    After the dam burst, the area was hit by floods, which is said to be the cause of the three deaths.

    On Wednesday evening, Ukrainian President Zelenskyi said that it is impossible to predict how many people will die in the Russian-occupied parts of Kherson, as a result of the floods.

  • Turkish opposition TV channels fined

    Four Turkish TV channels are being punished for comments made by their guests before the Turkish elections in May, TT reports.

    The channels are fined and all have in common that their owners did not stand behind President Erdogan.

    The president of the Turkish Journalists’ Union, Nazmi Bilgin, says in a statement that the fines are an “unacceptable violation of the public’s right to information and to make their own choices.”

    The size of the fine is determined based on how much advertising revenue each channel has.

    The TV channel Fox News is suing its former news anchor Tucker Carlson, the news site reports Axios.

    Carlson launched a new version of his news show on Twitter on Tuesday, something Fox says is a breach of contract.

    In April, ties with Carlson were cut after Fox settled with Dominion Voting Systems, which had sued the company for defamation. Among other things, it was claimed that Carlson deliberately lied to the audience. (TT)

  • Heavy explosion in car

    A car exploded in Hässleholm during the night towards Thursday.

    – We received the alarm at 02.11 when a large number of callers told us that they heard the explosion, says Tommy Bengtsson, officer on duty at police region South.

    The police suspect that something placed under the car caused the powerful explosion.

    – It’s still very early so we don’t know who owns the car or what happened, but the national bomb squad is on its way to the scene, says Tommy Bengtsson.

    A knife-cut man was found outside a shop in Nossebro on Wednesday evening, reports Gothenburg Post.

    The suspected perpetrator is being hunted.

    – We are investigating it as serious assault, says Jon Franzén, duty officer at the police to GP.

    The man was taken to hospital by ambulance. The damage is described as serious.

    The police were alerted to an explosion in the Västra gärdet area in Falkenberg at around 10.30pm on Wednesday evening.

    A preliminary investigation into public-dangerous devastation has been initiated, writes Hallands Nyheter.

    – The patrol smelled a faint smell of fire smoke, but we don’t know what it is that has exploded, says Jon Franzén, officer on duty, to the newspaper.

  • Train started burning in tunnel

    A train with 200 passengers caught fire in a tunnel in Tyrol, Austria on Wednesday evening.

    A major rescue effort was launched and the train has now been extinguished, says a spokesperson for the rescue service for ORF.

    The train was on its way to Hamburg and Amsterdam when it caught fire.

    E45 at the height of Trollhättan has been closed after several cars collided, reports Gothenburg Post.

    A man in his 20s was shot to death in Jakobsberg, northwest of Stockholm in May.

    Three people are already in custody in the case – and now another person has been arrested.

    According to information to Aftonbladet, it is a man in his 20s.

    He has previously been arrested in his absence.

    The murdered man is said to have been a leader in a criminal network, according to Aftonbladet’s information.

  • 11-year-old boy dead after being hit

    An 11-year-old boy was hit by a car while traveling on a bicycle in Valsta.

    He has now died from his injuries. Relatives have been notified.
