today at 1:18 p.m. Nelly Kronstrand

Turkey decides whether Sweden can become a member of NATO, says NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference, TT reports.

– My position is that both Sweden and Finland are ready for membership, but in the end it is a Turkish decision, says Stoltenberg.

He continues:

– Turkey has two documents, one for Sweden and one for Finland, he says and states that it is up to Turkey if it only wants to ratify one.

He also calls on Turkey to approve both countries at the same time, reports Reuters.

Stoltenberg also states that he will travel to Turkey on Thursday.
