Smoking is prohibited in public places in Mexico

today at 14.46 Johanna Sundbeck

Smoking in public places and tobacco advertising are now completely banned in Mexico, reports the BBC. It is considered one of the harshest tobacco laws in the world.

The ban includes, among other things, smoking in parks, beaches, hotels, offices and restaurants. Since 2008, there is a law on smoking-free zones in bars and restaurants. Smoking will only be permitted in private areas.

The ban on tobacco advertising means that cigarettes cannot be displayed inside shops either.
