Sharp increase in sexually transmitted diseases

today at 07.04 Amanda Hällsten

The sexually transmitted diseases chlamydia and gonorrhea have increased sharply in recent months in Norway. This is announced by the country’s public health authority FHI.

According to the authority, it may be an effect after the pandemic, when the number of infected people was in numbers.

– From August 2022, the number of reported cases of chlamydia has been higher than in previous years. It coincides with a corresponding increase in gonorrhea among young heterosexuals, and may be due to increased social contact after the reopening of society, says senior physician Anne Olaug Olsen at FHI.
