  • Severe lack of drinking water – calls for health checks

    Drinking water in Uruguay is running out. The reason that the country has reached the lowest level of rain in 35 years, counted in the last four months.

    In the capital Montevideo, they are only days away from empty reservoirs, reports Washington Post.

    Now the authorities are working to solve the crisis by diluting the drinking water.

    Among other things, water is pumped up from the Rio de la Plata, which is an area where fresh water from the Parana and Uruguay rivers is mixed with salt water from the Atlantic.

    The dilution means that the salt content is now twice as high as the WHO’s recommended maximum limit. However, it should not pose any danger to healthy people according to the Minister of Health in Uruguay.

    But people with high blood pressure or kidney disease are encouraged to drink bottled water or go for regular medical check-ups.

    A person in Solna has been hit by a large object that fell from a great height, the police write.

    After the examination, the woman felt mentally ill and suffered from both pain and bleeding.

    Now the clinic has been reported to the Care and Care Inspectorate after the care staff announced that they had confused the woman with another patient.

    The police have been alerted to loud explosions in Sundsvall.

    – It seems to be a server room with lots of computers. There should be no fire in any case. Emergency services and police are there. We are investigating what happened, says the duty officer of the rescue service, Jonas Hägglund, to Aftonbladet.

    According to Sundsvall’s newspaper it’s about an explosion. The newspaper also writes that the editorial office has been evacuated.
