  • Reduced price pressure among producers

    Price pressure at the producer level continues to decrease. In April, prices fell by 1.0 percent compared to March, according to Statistics Norway (SCB), TT reports.

    Compared to April last year, producer prices have risen by 1.3 percent, which is the lowest rate of increase since January 2021.

    Price changes among manufacturers have an impact at a later stage on prices vis-à-vis consumers and thus inflation.

  • Drunk man shot dead horse

    During Thursday evening, the police were alerted to an address in Tranås municipality. They had received information that a drunken man had shot and killed a horse.

    At the scene, the police found a dead horse and the man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated weapons offences, animal cruelty and vandalism.

    The man was then arrested on Friday morning.

    The police are now investigating what happened and why the horse was shot.

  • Cocaine with swastika found

    Peruvian police have seized 58 one-kilo packages of cocaine that had a picture of a Nazi flag on the outside and the name Hitler in relief, writes TT.

    The drug was found in a shipping container of asparagus on board a Liberian-flagged ship in the port of Paita in northern Peru.

    The shipment was supposed to go to Belgium, according to the police.

    The commuter trains run with greatly reduced traffic during Friday. This is due to staff shortages, SL announces.

    On some routes, buses will replace train traffic and SL encourages travelers to use alternative travel routes if possible.

  • Russian robot attack on Kyiv

    Russia has attacked Kiev with robots fired from strategic bombers, according to the Ukrainian military.

    The attack took place during the night of Friday and all the robots were shot down, Kiev’s military command says on Telegram and refers to preliminary information.

    No one should have been injured.

    The Russian air attack was the 13th in a row since the beginning of May, writes Serhiy Popko, the head of the military administration in Kiev, in a statement.

  • Ukrainian soldiers released in prisoner exchange

    106 Ukrainian soldiers captured by Russian forces in Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine have been released after a prisoner exchange.

    – They were reported as missing. But we found them. We took them home. Eight officers, 98 soldiers and sergeants, says President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening speech.

    How many prisoners of war were returned to Russia in the exchange is unclear.

    – Of course, I am also grateful to each of our soldiers who ensured that we have an appropriate exchange fund, says Zelensky.

    – The more Russian prisoners of war we take, the more of our people we get home.

    An explosion has occurred on a street on Södermalm in central Stockholm.

    The alarm about the loud bang on Magnus Ladulåsgatan came at 01:00 on the night of Friday.

    Pictures from the scene show blown out windows from a room on the street level. Shards of glass lie along the pavement.

    – It is some form of detonation. Something has snapped there. We have no information about personal injuries. It must be panes of glass that have broken, says Josefin Lindblom, line operator at Greater Stockholm’s fire service, to Expressen.

    The detonation is said to have taken place near a preschool which has its premises along the street.

  • Suspect arrested after violent act in Japan

    Japanese police have arrested a person suspected of killing four people, including two police officers, in the city of Nakano in Japan, local media reports.

    According to witnesses, the perpetrator was dressed in camouflage, masked and wearing sunglasses.

    He stabbed his victims with a large knife and shot two police officers with a hunting rifle.

    The man was arrested after he barricaded himself for several hours in a house that belonged to his father. (TT)

    The lack of rain is already causing problems in some parts of the country.

    Now the Farmers’ Confederation, LRF, is preparing for a similar situation to that in summer 2018 – and restarting several crisis groups to support affected farmers. It reports Swedens radio.

    This at the same time as the economic crisis has already hit many farmers hard.

    – The crises simply come too close together. Then we have to start thinking in a different way, says Markus Hoffman, responsible for land, water and sustainability issues at LRF.

  • Four arrested – tried to kidnap and rob man and boy

    Several people broke into a home outside Vollsjö in Sjöbo municipality this evening.

    There they threatened and were violent towards a 75-year-old man and a teenage boy.

    The robbers also allegedly tried to kidnap the man and the boy.

    It is unclear if they took anything with them, and the people left the scene in a car.

    Later in the evening, four people could be arrested, all men or boys according to the police. They are suspected of attempted aggravated robbery and attempted kidnapping.

    – There is no information about firearms, but it is possible that they had some other type of attachment, says police spokesperson Rickard Lundqvist to South Sweden.

    No one needed emergency care after the incident.

    Stewart Rhodes, leader of the far-right group Oath Keepers, was the driving force behind the storming of the US Capitol building.

    Now he is sentenced to 18 years in prison for sedition, reports American media.

    It is the longest sentence anyone has received so far after the events in Washington DC on January 6, 2021, writes the New York Times.

    Rhodes is said to have been planning for several weeks to stop the people elected from approving Joe Biden as the new president.

    Prosecutor Kathryn Rakoczy, who called the action terrorism, demanded 25 years in prison, writes CNN.

    No television in northern Sweden

    It is time for interruptions on all TV channels on the terrestrial network in Dalarna, Gävleborg, Jämtland, Västernorrland, Västerbotten and Norrbotten counties, according to Teracom.

  • Police chasing gray van after contagion accident

    A cyclist was hit by a car in Åstorp outside Helsingborg early on Wednesday evening.

    The motorist then departed the scene.

    The cyclist, a man in his 30s. was injured and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. According to Region Skåne, his injuries are considered life-threatening.

    The police have not found either the car or the driver. According to witnesses, a gray van was involved in the accident, the police write on their website.

    They urge anyone who has seen the car, or has other information, to contact them on 114 14.

    The incident is being investigated as grievous bodily harm and contamination from a traffic accident.

    Man dead – found in the water

    At 15:00 on Thursday afternoon, a man in his 50s was found in the water at Ön in Limhamn in Malmö.

    According to the Rescue Service, the man was found near the shore. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

    Now the police announce that the man is dead. His next of kin have been notified.
