    Russia has suffered its biggest losses since the peak of the Battle of Bakhmut in March, writes the Independent.

    The British military said both sides are suffering heavy military casualties as Ukraine struggles to dislodge Kremlin forces from occupied territories in the early stages of its counteroffensive.

    According to British intelligence, the most intense fighting has taken place in the southeastern province of Zaporizhzhia, around Bakhmut and further west in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk province.

    Birth control pills increase the risk of depression

    A study from the UK shows that birth control pills increase the risk of depression. The study is based on a quarter of a million women and girls’ data taken from the UK Biobank, TT reports.

    The study concerns the type of birth control pills called combined birth control pills, which contain both estrogen and progestin.

    According to the study, the pill increased women’s risk of depression by 73 percent in the first two years of use.

    Women who started using birth control pills during adolescence had a 130 percent higher frequency of depressive symptoms. Women aged 20 and over when they started had a 92 percent higher risk of depressive symptoms.
