The tax on plastic bags is to be abolished on January 1, reports Sweden’s Radio Echo.
The government and SD have agreed on this during the negotiations on the upcoming spring budget.
Three years ago, a tax on plastic bags was introduced to reduce their use.
For a regular box in the grocery stores, the price was raised from approximately three kroner to around seven kroner.
In the past, the Tidö parties have criticized the tax, and now they have decided to remove it.
Suspected attempted murder after shots fired at home last night
During the night, one or more people fired at least one firearm into a window of a residence in Vadstena, according to the police.
It was this morning that the police received information about a broken window and marks on a wall inside the home.
– We have been on site during the morning and that is when we get suspicions that things have happened and that it is a serious armed crime and attempted murder, says Marcus Anefur, at the police press service.
The address is not a common location for the police, according to Anefur, and the police are now conducting internal and external reconnaissance and carrying out certain investigative measures to try to locate one or more perpetrators.
– There is no suspect at the moment, says Marcus Anefur.
No one was physically injured in the incident.
Two to hospital after assault – major police effort
Two people have been taken to hospital by ambulance after the police were alerted to an assault at an address in Luleå.
The condition of the two people’s injuries is unclear.
The alarm came in at 1:20 p.m. and the police have now launched a major operation at the scene.
– It is an ongoing case, we are on site and searching the area, I cannot say more than that at the moment, says Elisabeth Glaas, at the police command center.
Several patrols and a police helicopter are working on the case.
No one has yet been arrested.
Large release of palm oil
At least 600 liters of palm oil have leaked at Gotska Sandön Photo: Coast Guard
A large spill of palm oil has occurred north of Gotska Sandön, reports the Coast Guard.
During Tuesday, the Coast Guard’s aircraft discovered a spill that covered an area of ten square kilometers.
– We have secured evidence and we have a clear source, says Jonatan Örn, preliminary investigation leader at the Coast Guard.
The release of palm oil must have occurred in connection with tank cleaning.
– We suspect that the method that has been used during the tank cleaning did not follow the current regulations and that this has led to a larger amount being released. We estimate that at least 600 liters of palm oil reached the sea, which exceeds the permitted limit, says Jonatan Örn.
According to the Coast Guard, this type of oil is difficult, and often impossible, to combat.
The suspect vessel has a port of destination in Finland.
Two police officers to hospital after head-on collision
Two cars have collided head-on in Mjölby municipality. Three people are involved in the accident, two of whom are police officers.
– There are two colleagues involved in the collision, one of whom is seriously injured, says Marcus Anefur at the police.
The officers were on duty and traveling in an unpainted police vehicle. It is still unclear what caused the accident after the collision.
A man, the driver of the other car, has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence in traffic and grievous bodily harm.
– At the moment, I cannot go into more detail about what has happened. But we have set up crisis support for personnel involved in the accident, says Anefur.
Ukrainian agents carry out attacks in Russia
Ukrainian agents have carried out drone attacks in Russia and Belarus.
It appears in the documents leaked from the Pentagon, reports NBC News.
The documents also reveal that Kiev considered additional targets outside of Ukraine.
John Bolton, a former national security adviser under the Trump administration, says the revelations show how damaging the information from the documents can be.
– Releasing this information may have been done to undermine the West’s support for Ukraine, by showing potential operations across borders, he says, among other things.

The Court of Appeal submits an opinion: Know what a snippa is
The Court of Appeal for Western Sweden knows very well what a snipe is.
This appears in an opinion from the Court of Appeal lawyer Åke Thimfors to the Supreme Court on Wednesday, reports P4 Gothenburg.
He, together with three male colleagues, previously acquitted the rapist convicted in the district court in the attention-grabbing so-called snippa case.
The reason was then that they started discussing what the word snippa means. They also concluded that the then-convicted rapist was not guilty of raping children.
The investigation into Lundintoppers is closed
The former leaders of Lundin Petroleum, chairman of the board Ian Lundin and CEO Alex Schneiter, who are suspected of aiding and abetting gross violations of international law in Sudan, are no longer suspected of gross abuse in court, reports TT.
The prosecutor has decided to close the investigation after it cannot be proven that the “suspects were guilty of a crime”.
It was in 2018 that information about witnesses, who under threat of violence, were told to remain silent about information that forms the basis of a preliminary investigation into a serious violation of international law. This is in collaboration with Lundin Petroleum extracting oil in Sudan. However, both Ian Lundin and Alex Schneiter have always denied wrongdoing.
In the fall, the trial is expected to begin for gross violations of international law.
Politicians call for a boycott of Absolut vodka
Absolut Vodka’s owner, Pernod Ricard, has decided to start exporting to Russia again after a stop of just over a year.
This has caused several politicians to react and call for a boycott, TT reports.
“Incredibly immoral that Absolut Vodka resumes sales to Russia, at a time when Ukraine is literally fighting for its freedom, its country’s independence and the democracy of the whole of Europe,” writes liberal MP Gulan Avci on Twitter.
“A nice present for Putin”, EU parliamentarian Karin Karlsbro (L).
“Absolutely Putin,” tweets Anders Ygeman, Member of Parliament for the Social Democrats.
The investigation into the escape of the chimpanzees is complete
The investigation into the escape of the chimpanzees in Furuviksparken is complete, announces the county administration in Gävleborg.
The county board’s assessment is that Furuviksparken has fulfilled its responsibility as an animal keeper during and in connection with the incident.
The county board also states that the park has implemented changes in the house where the chimpanzees live and also changed its work routines in a way that is deemed to be sufficient.
At the same time, it also appears that Furuviksparken euthanized the chimpanzees using a method that is not legal.
“Today, primates are missing from the regulations’ list of animal species that may be killed with firearms at a distance. The park should therefore have applied for a dispensation from the Swedish Agricultural Agency when they assessed that the need arose,” the county administrative board writes.
