Police weather advisory: Work from home

Park the car and work from home if possible. The police in Östergötland and Jönköping are advising the residents ahead of today’s expected snow storm.

– If you have the opportunity to work at home, it is recommended, says police spokesperson Angelica Israelsson Silfver to P4 Östergötland.

SMHI has issued both yellow and orange warnings for Östergötland, Västergötland, Dalsland and northern Småland. Between 10 and 30 centimeters of snow is expected to fall until Thursday morning.

  • More police officers are sent to Stockholm after the wave of violence

    Several regions are sending police officers to Stockholm to help with the violent spiral that flared up in the capital during the Christmas and New Year holidays, writes SvD.

    Among other things, police officers from the Bergslagen and Väst regions help with the investigations. According to Erik Nord, head of the investigative unit at the Gothenburg police, between ten and a hundred police officers have been sent to Stockholm.

  • Regions pay millions for late bills

    The country’s regions are late in paying their bills – and it costs money.

    Every month they pay over a million kroner in late fees, shows a survey made by SR Ekot.

    Since 2018, the regions have paid 60 million for invoices that were not paid on time.

    Stockholm, Västra Götaland and Skåne pay the most, accounting for half of the sum. But compared to population, it is Uppsala, Örebro and Sörmland that pay the most.

  • Threatens Kim to leave the agreement

  • Subway shooter admits to terrorist crime

    Frank James, 63, caused panic on the New York subway when he lit smoke bombs and shot wildly around in a carriage during rush hour last April.

    Ten people were injured in the shooting, but no one died.

    Another 13 people were injured in the commotion after the attack in the subway.

    Now James pleads guilty to terror and weapons offences. However, he believes that he did not intend for anyone to die.

    Prosecutor Sara Winik dismissed the 63-year-old’s statement on Tuesday and stated in court that the evidence indicates that James targeted his victims with that very intention.

    He faces life in prison.

  • Apollo 7 astronaut dead

    American astronaut Walter Cunningham was the last survivor of the Apollo 7 flight, which was the first successful manned space flight of the Apollo program.

    Cunningham was 90 years old, writes the American space agency Nasa, which confirms his passing in a statement.

    The eleven-day space flight in 1968, in orbit around the Earth, was the first to be broadcast live on television and it paved the way for the moon landing less than a year later. (TT)

  • Man stabbed – woman arrested

    Police and an ambulance rushed to the Western harbor in Malmö at 10 p.m., following an alarm that a 35-year-old man had suffered stab or cut injuries.

    – The man was observed and found injured outside, but we are working after the crime is said to have been committed in a residence, says Rickard Lundqvist, press spokesperson at the police command center, to South Sweden.

    A woman in her 30s has been arrested, suspected of attempted serious assault.

    It should not be a danger to the man’s life.

  • McCarthy lost for the third time

    Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy appeared at 11 p.m. to lose a third vote to win the post of speaker.

    After further defections among his party mates, this time 20 Republican members voted against him.

    Opponents have chosen to cast their vote for Jim Jordan instead.

    Conservative party members are now warning that McCarthy could continue to lose support as the polls continue.

    The candidate of the largest party has not lost a vote for the post of Speaker in a hundred years.

  • Suspected killer extradited to Idaho

    Criminology student Bryan Kohberger, 28, who is suspected in the Nov. 13 murders of four youths in the town of Moscow, Idaho, is not contesting extradition to the state.

    He stated this when he was brought before a court in Pennsylvania on Tuesday. He was arrested the day before New Year’s Eve at his parents’ home in Pennsylvania.

    According to defense attorney Jason LaBar, the 28-year-old is “shocked” to be suspected of the murders.

  • In the article about covid it says in the fact box:

    that covid is still “notifiable, which means that confirmed cases must still be reported by the healthcare system to the regional infectious disease doctor and the Public Health Authority.”

    I don’t think people know this, during December at least 25 of my acquaintances have been diagnosed with covid but no one has reported this anywhere. Can you figure out what to do when home covid tests are positive?
