Three diplomats from Norway have been evacuated from Sudan’s capital. This is announced by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
One of them is the ambassador Endre Stiansen.
– I am very happy that all three of us diplomats who have been locked up and partly by themselves for the past week are finally on their way home to Norway in safety, says Stiansen in a press release.
With that, the Norwegian embassy in Sudan will now be closed and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that they will now be fully focused on helping Norwegian citizens who want to leave the country. There are around 80 Norwegians in the country.
