Nyan’s party leader on the Koran burning: Turkey must make tougher demands
Mikail Yüksel, party leader of the Nyan party, comments on Rasmus Paludan’s Koran burning near the Turkish embassy.
On Twitter, he writes that Koran burning should be seen as a hate crime.
He thinks that Turkey should demand a ban on it in connection with the Swedish NATO application.
“Time for Turkey to make tougher demands on Sweden and to criminalize the Koran burnings,” he writes in a tweet.

Stop in train traffic after signal failure
There is a stop in train traffic on the Uddevalla-Gothenburg route during the morning, reports Traffic editorial at Sveriges Radio.
This after a signal error between the stations Stora Höga and Svenskhögen.

Food prices skyrocket – big increase in just one year
Food prices have increased by 20 percent in the past year according to PRO’s annual price survey, TT reports.
In the price survey, PRO selects a few goods and then looks at the price of them in several hundred stores around Sweden.
It is rapeseed oil and Bregott that stand out the most. Those goods have increased by 45 and 42 percent, respectively.
– Many people contact us and are completely in despair. They can say they go to the store but can’t afford to buy what they need. There are also some who get in touch and say that they can no longer afford to be part of PRO and go to PRO meetings and for many it may be the only silver lining, says PRO’s chairman Åsa Lindeberg to TT.

The Turkish reactions to Rasmus Paludan’s Koran burning have been strong and the relationship between Sweden and Turkey is tense. Now Finland’s Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto is commenting on the incident and says that Saturday was a difficult day in Sweden.
– The provocations easily affect the mood and atmosphere and provoke backlash. Now it is important to keep our eyes on the ball in the NATO process, says Haavisto to the Finnish news agency STT according to Hufvudstadsbladet.
He calls Saturday’s events a “burden on the journey” towards Swedish and Finnish NATO membership.
That the planned meeting between Foreign Minister Pål Jonson (M) and his Turkish ministerial colleague later this week has been canceled is not good, he believes.
– Of course, it is certainly bad for the NATO ratification process itself, if you postpone meetings concerning the contacts between the countries
New Estonia images are presented
The accident commissions in Sweden, Finland and Estonia will present on Monday a first report with preliminary conclusions regarding the information about a hole in the passenger ship Estonia that came to light in the fall of 2020.
In connection with a press conference in Tallinn, images from the investigation will be made public, with a 3D model of the hull.

72-year-old mass murderer found dead
The man suspected of shooting dead 10 people at a dance studio in Monterey Park, California, is dead after shooting himself as police approached.
Police Chief Robert Luna stated this at a press conference last night.
The killer was named as 72-year-old Hur Can Tran.
“The suspect sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Robert Luna.

Burkina Faso asks France to leave
Burkina Faso wants French soldiers to leave the country within a month, according to a diplomatic letter from the Burkinabe authorities to Paris seen by AFP.
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Sunday that he expected clarification of the request from the “highest level”.

Several trucks on fire
Several trucks started burning in Borås during Sunday evening, reports say Gothenburg-Posten.
– There were trucks of various sizes that were on fire. They were standing close to a building, but thanks to us being on the scene quickly, the building survived, says Bo Sandström, duty officer of the rescue service to the newspaper.
The trucks must be owned by a moving company.
Germany allows Poland to send armored vehicles to Ukraine
Germany will not stand in the way of Poland delivering the Leopard tank to Ukraine, TT reports.
This was announced by the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Sunday.

Major police operation – people with weapons arrested
Several police patrols are currently participating in an operation in Jordbro south of Stockholm.
According to information to Aftonbladet, the police have stopped a car after a chase and arrested several people.
They allegedly had weapons in the car.

Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) commented on the protests that were organized in Stockholm on Saturday in Svt’s Agenda.
Partly Rasmus Paludan’s Koran burning outside the Turkish embassy and partly a protest against Sweden’s NATO membership.
– It does not facilitate our conditions to become members of NATO, says Jonson.
At the same time, Jonson emphasized freedom of expression and freedom of demonstration in Sweden
Pål Jonson was supposed to have a meeting with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akbar on January 27. But Turkey canceled it as a consequence of the protests.
Twelve injured in new mass shooting
Twelve people were injured in a shooting at a nightclub in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Sunday night.
That’s what the news agency writes AP.
A person must be life-threateningly injured.
The shooting happened at 01:30 last night.
No one has been arrested after the incident and the motive is unclear – but the police say they have leads to go on.
On Saturday night, at least ten people died in a shooting in Los Angeles, in connection with the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
