Montenegro has a new president.

37-year-old economist Jakov Milatovic defeated incumbent President Milo Dukanovic in a second round of elections.

The result is seen as a small surprise, writes TT.

Dukanovic has been in power for several terms, both as prime minister and president, since the 1990s.

The office of president is mainly ceremonial in Montenegro, but the outcome of the presidential election is seen as an important hint for how things might go in the parliamentary elections in June.
