  • One in ten Americans has had a family member shot to death

    A new study shows that approximately one in ten Americans has a family member shot dead, reports TT.

    Every fifth person has at some point been threatened with a weapon and every sixth person has witnessed an injury from a shooting.

    The study comes from The Kaiser Family Foundation. Half of the gun-related deaths are said to be suicides, according to the report.

  • Thousands evacuated after fire

    Over 2,000 people living in the state of Indiana in the United States must be evacuated after a massive fire broke out at a recycling facility, reports ABC News.

    It is still unclear what caused the fire to break out at 2pm on Tuesday local time. According to CNN, it is expected to burn for several days.

  • One person arrested for attempted murder

  • Apoteket shares information about customers to Facebook

    Over 100 online pharmacies around Europe share information about their customers with Facebook, an audit from Echo.

    Among other things, information is shared about customers who turn to the pharmacy for potency problems, bowel problems and to buy HIV and pregnancy tests.

    “I am shocked. This is data that the pharmacies are not allowed to share with anyone,” says Social Democratic EU Member of Parliament Paul Tang.

    The details of the purchases, as well as the customers’ names and phone numbers, are shared via a tracking tool called a pixel. According to the radio, the pharmacy uses the tool without the customers’ approval. And that the motive behind it may be to be able to direct advertising in social media to the same customers.

    To Ekot, Facebook’s ownership company Meta refers to the rules that the company has written and that they use a filter to catch and prevent the spread of sensitive information. However, Meta states that they “can’t catch everything all the time”.
