Midwife charged with female genital mutilation
On Tuesday, a 43-year-old midwife was charged with violating the law prohibiting female genital mutilation, the police announced in a press release.
It happened during a delivery in the fall of 2020 at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg.
The hospital reported the incident to the police. When restoring the interventions that needed to be carried out during childbirth, the injuries were treated incorrectly.
– Instead of restoring the woman’s normal anatomy after childbirth, the genital mutilation she had already before she moved to Sweden was restored, says Christina Torell, investigator at the serious crime section in Gothenburg in the press release.

Cyber attack against Öland – municipalities have shut down the internet
Borgholm and Mörbylånga municipality’s joint IT system discovered an intrusion late on Monday, write Ölandsbladet.
– We began to receive indications of some type of external influence in our IT environment. Then our crisis management was activated, says Mörbylånga’s municipal manager Ann Willsund to the newspaper.

Delays and canceled flights at Arlanda
During the morning, air traffic control at Arlanda had technical problems.

Departing flights should not be affected – on the other hand, arriving flights will be limited.

Season’s lowest temperature reached
Last night it was -36.1 degrees in Naimakka, which is the lowest temperature of the season.

EU countries agree on new climate tariff
The EU countries have reached an agreement on a new climate tariff for imports to the industry in the Union, TT reports.
The new carbon dioxide duty, abbreviated CBAM, applies to the import of goods from countries with less stringent climate regulations.
“This mechanism promotes the import of goods from companies outside the EU, into the EU, and meets the high climate standards that apply in the EU’s 27 member states,” Czech Energy Minister Jozef Sikela said in a statement.
The agreement covers, among other things, the import of steel, cement, fertilizers and aluminium.
A test period for the agreement begins in October 2023.
Continued problems with the commuter trains
The problems with the commuter trains continue.
Today, all trains between Märsta and Nynäshamn are canceled due to staff shortages.

Man attacked by masked men with knife
A 35-year-old man alerted the police after being attacked by two masked men in southern Stockholm during the morning.

The man was able to get home and raise the alarm, but had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

E4 closed after accident
Right now, the E4 is closed between Svartån and the Mjölby Östra interchange, which is between Linköping and Mjölby, reports Sveriges Radio.

A motorist in Gothenburg drove off the road this morning and collided with a tree.

Several weather warnings issued
A yellow warning and an orange warning for strong wind and snowfall have been issued for parts of Gotland.
SMHI also warns of snowfall and high winds in parts of Svealand, where a yellow warning has been issued.
The weather can affect traffic and road users are asked to be careful on the roads.
Municipalities lack emergency water plans
Several of Sweden’s municipalities lack an action plan for what happens if the drinking water is cut off in the event of war or war. When the industry organization Swedish Water did a survey of 177 municipalities, 25 of them completely lacked an emergency water plan, says Echo.
