    There is a fire at Kronobergsparken on Kungsholmen in Stockholm.

    – It’s a clubhouse that’s on fire. It was fully lit when we arrived, says Roger Sverndal, management operator at the rescue service.

    Three stations from the rescue service are on site and the extinguishing work is expected to continue for the next two hours.

    – But there are no people in the room, now only extinguishing work is underway, says Roger Sverndal.

    There is currently no risk of the fire spreading to other buildings.

    – There was a lot of black smoke billowing from behind one of the residential buildings. I live in Södermalm and already felt when I walked towards the subway there that it smelled of smoke, says one resident.

    Something has detonated at a residential building in Norrköping.

    – We have no injuries, but damage to an entrance door to an apartment building, says Camilla Larsson, officer on duty at the police.

    Several people alerted the police shortly before 01:00.

    – They heard a loud bang, saw a large cloud of smoke and some form of blue light.

    The police have cordoned off the site for a technical investigation and are knocking on doors in the area. No one is arrested.

    – The legal situation is a gross violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods and Publicly Dangerous Devastation, says Larsson. (TT)

  • Soldiers injured in helicopter crash

    22 American soldiers were injured in a helicopter crash in northeastern Syria this weekend, the Pentagon said.

    The MH-47 Chinook helicopter had a problem with one rotor during take-off and hit the hill hard.

    The condition of all the soldiers is described as stable, but ten of them have been taken to more advanced medical facilities outside the region. (TT)

  • Knife violence increases as police take up guns

    The number of knife crimes linked to acts of violence has increased by 36 percent in four years.
