The Russian Wagner Group has announced a reward of 15 million dollars for whoever murders Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto. This is reported by DN with reference to the Italian intelligence service.
The reason must be that the minister accuses Wagner of being behind the recent wave of refugees across the Mediterranean. According to the Italian government, a disproportionately large group on the migrant boats come from countries partly controlled by Wagner’s mercenaries, such as Libya, Mali and the Central African Republic.
After the statement, the leader of the Wagner group, Prigozhin, went out on his Telegram channel and called Crosetto “a complete asshole”, and assured that Wagner has nothing to do with refugee smuggling.
News of the reward was reportedly received by Italian intelligence around 10 days ago but was not made public until this week, according to Euractive.
